In critical theory, a binary opposition (also binary system) is a pair of theoretical opposites. In structuralism, it is seen as a fundamental organizer of human philosophy, culture, and language.

In post-structuralism, it is seen as one of several influential characteristics or tendencies of Western and Western-derived thought, and that typically, one of the two opposites assumes a role of dominance over the other. The categorization of binary oppositions is “often value-laden and ethnocentric”, with an illusory order and superficial meaning.

UMMM, what does that mean…IT’S NCAA BRACKET TIME.

It’s the time when people refer to themselves as “Bracketologist.” I know people out there who go nuts for this stuff. When I say nuts, I don’t mean the “posts his bracket on his cubicle wall” guy. I mean the guy that could build a cubicle out of bracket sheets, and asked you about your picks for next year and if the NBA’s rules on 1-year out of high school will effect how his fave pick will blow his brackets 3 years down the line. then he asks if there is such a thing as a hot tub time machine so he wouldn’t pick that 16 -over-1 pick from 2004.
