Still Here

Hey guys, a lot of you have been emailing and messaging me over live, as to the status of GamerCoach. We are still here!!! We have been in the process of making the site not only look more professional, but also to make the site more easily to navigate by your “coachees.” Make sure you are updating your profile and checking in on the site at least…AT LEAST, once a week. This way you can see if you have any new messages. Please feel free to ask any questions to me over xbox live, our facebook page, our twitter, or through my email. Also we are in the process of making this blog have the ability, for all of you great coaches, to reply to any of the blog or Mayor’s Office posts. So since I am no longer AFK, you should absolutely make this page a bookmark, favorite, homepage, or just print it out and put it in you pet bird’s cage. i sure little petey want to know wuz up. Now you know why the caged bird sings…it because they need to know whats up with your coaching. Once again i can not begin to tell you the amount of missed sessions for you guys, and it’s only because you didn’t check your profile. Coaches don’t miss out on a session just because it has been a while since you had one. So now with that out of the way let us get to the meat and tates of this cozy little office party with your boy Mayor.

• I wanted to let you know that on April 15, 2010 Microsoft will discontinue Xbox LIVE service for original Xbox consoles and games, including original Xbox games playable on Xbox 360. Our first step in this process will be to turn off auto-renewals for those members who only use Xbox LIVE on a v1 Xbox. So if you missed out on that great gamertag here is your chance.
• DO NOT USE YOUR PS3!!!.  This is an issue in which Sony has now fixed but who knows what the fallout may be. Click here for Joystiq.com’s story in which Sony told their users to simply, “…advise that you do not use your PS3 system, as doing so may result in errors in some functionality…The Following is the first Paragraph in the joystiq.com report, on the Issue with the Phat ps3s  Sony has finally spoken up about the game-crashing issues currently plaguing non-Slim PS3 models. A post on PlayStation Blog has confirmed that the problems are “being caused by a bug in the clock functionality incorporated in the system.” The statement puts a loose timeframe on a fix for the issues, saying, “we hope to resolve this problem within the next 24 hours.”
• Last but not least is the hottest games you are most likely or will be playing. There sure have been a lot of 2’s. well anyway lets check it out.

Halo Wars has indeed become the best selling console RTS (Real Time Strategy) according to Microsoft.

Microsoft announed about 14 hours ago, at the time of this post, sold 1 million copies already and now becomes the best selling console RTS title on current generation platforms. Set in the year 2525, “Halo Wars” takes players on a perilous journey through the famed “Halo” universe. As players take the command seat in the early, epic battles between the UNSC and Covenant, they will begin to unravel events 20 years before “Halo: Combat Evolved” that shaped the franchise into what it is today.

Since the game’s release throughout Asia on February 26 and subsequent launches in Europe and the Americas, fans around the world have been taking full advantage of “Halo Wars’” rich Xbox LIVE gameplay. To date:

· There have been more than 2.6 million multiplayer matches played

· More than 118 years of time has been spent in multiplayer matches on Xbox LIVE

· On average, more than 200,000 “Halo Wars” fans have taken up arms in battles between the UNSC and Covenant each day

But these initial explosive battles in “Halo Wars” are just beginning. This has been a great success, for them in my opinion. This is not as in depth as the Command and Conquer series, or most other RTS games out there. but what this game does…it does well. It has gotten people, that never would have played an RTS, to pick up the sticks and give it a go. and with the simplistic controls and small tech tree. anyone can understand the basic function of the game and enjoy the campaign.

Epic has not giving up on fixing their game. This is their third attempt at addressing multiplayer issues that have had gamers screaming at their TV for months. Highlights for the upcoming update include:

- A new levelling system which will abolish the TrueSkill rank completely. Info on the new system’s 100 levels can be found at http://gearsforums.epicgames.com/showthread.php?t=658236

- Players can only be downed by smoke grenades for a maximum of 2 seconds

- The “Two-Piecing” outbreak with the shotgun is expect to be remedied by giving players a higher chance of dodging the shot after being meleed

-If the host quits, only the host will lose exp, not everyone

-Five new achievements will be added to the list for the DLC that is expected to arrive shortly after the update

-”Gameplay tweaks will also be made” and as well new glitches that have arisen will be taken care of sorry to repost this like i did i just wanted to clean it up to make it more viewable

Microsoft is finally releasing a patch to fix the HDMI audio issue that some Xbox 360 owners have been experiencing since the launch of New Xbox Experience.

A large thread on Xbox.com and a temporary workaround popped up immediately after the 19th November release.

According to Major Nelson, it has a fix, via a mandatory dashboard update released at 2am PST this morning. The below text is copied from his site.

Well Happy Holidays to all of you out there in cyberland. Its your Head Xbox tech support and coach here, to let you know how to update a xbox console without xbox live.
This is handy if you are out of town and you get a new xbox for the holidays and you have no way to get on xbox live to update or best of all if you internet goes haywire or your console for that matter. Or you can even update a friend or relatives console if they don’t have live so they can have all the cool new stuff too!!!!!

Now you will still need an internet connection and a way to burn dvds or cds. After that its just more gravy on the table. so here are the steps and what you need to do.

This procedure involves burning the DVD or CD by using Microsoft Windows DVD or CD burning software. If you’re using third-party CD/DVD writing software, follow the instructions for creating a data disc. The same steps apply whether burning a CD or a DVD.

Making the disc:

1. Click here to begin downloading the update folder. Save it as “$SystemUpdate_Fall08.zip” anywhere on your computer. But please know where it is. I prefer to make a new folder on the desktop for an issue like this.
2. Place a blank disc in your burner.
3. From Windows Explorer, select Open Writable CD Folder Using Windows Explorer or open the CD drive icon.
4. Open (double click) the zipped $SystemUpdate_ Fall08.zip folder and drag the contents of the zipped folder to the root of the CD Folder. If the CD write window doesn’t open by default, drag and drop the folder onto the CD/DVD RW drive. Note:If you are using an earlier version of Windows you will need to open the file using a separate utility (for example, WinZip).
5. In the Explorer window, click Write files to CD from the CD writing tasks or right-click the CD/DVD RW drive and select Write these files to CD. Caution: The update filename and folder structure must be intact for the update to run properly.
6. Follow the steps in the CD wizard. When you are finished with the wizard, the CD will eject. Your CD is ready to update the console:

Updating the Console:

1. Place the CD in the Xbox 360 console.
2. Power cycle the Xbox 360 console. (Turn off the console, wait 5 seconds, then turn it back on)
3. The update program will start automatically. Select Yes, update now and press A.
4. Wait for the update to complete.
5. When the console reboots, you’re done.

Need to boost that gamerscore up to out do your friend. Then here is a holiday gift to all of those needing more GamerScore points. Here is a few tips from your head xbox coach and tech guy mayor. If you have any games that are not up here post it in the comments section.

Need for Speed: Most Wanted - This one just takes some time and patience. Keep on the game steady until you finish to rack up all of the achievements. Relatively easy 1000 points for those looking.

Madden NFL 06 - Happy Simulating!! Just keep simulating through the preseason, regular season, and postseason. This will take you several hours and will require you to be somewhat active, so have a good book or something handy. The system will “run out of years” in the year 2035, which is when you get your achievement. To Make sure you get all those points go to settings and make the cpu controlled teams skill sliders: i.e. passing catching and everything else a big zero. then make user controlled teams 100.

King Kong - All the 1000 points can be achieved a half day. Just beat the game and collect your points.

Fight Night Round 3 - Set this puppy up on easy, create a boxer, win all of the sponsored fights, and become the champ. Congratulations, you just netted another 1000 points.

NBA 2k6 - There are 5 achievements. All of them are easy to get in a single game. Set to 12 minute quarters to ensure that you get the achievements.. Enjoy your 1000 points.

College Hoops 2k6 - Pretty much the same stuff if you’ve already played NBA 2K6. Put the time limit on 20 min halves. Walk-on difficulty level. And when the game starts go to coach options and set the Substitutions and Timeouts to Manual. Please take note that all 5 of these achievements can be achieved with a second controller with a friend, or just sitting there. But we at gamercoach encourage you to have friends.

Avatar: The Burning Earth - Easiest 1000Gs ever! There are 5 achievements and You can get the full 1000 points right in the beginning of the game. Simply keep hitting B to use your ranged attack on the guards.

TMNT - Just another 1k for playing through the game. Complete a level without taking damage: Complete a level without taking damage: Do this on the first level, you will have only two enemy battles and they are relatively few in number, so simply do the jump slam and then hit Y when they are on the ground for easy kills. You can even fall into holes (automatic death) and still get this achievement, but you CAN’T fall off a ledge, as it will deal minor damage, so be careful on the wall climbs.

Also any of the LEGO games are ver simple GS points. this should get you to 10,000G easily since there are about 5 of these.

Hey guys and gals, i have be online for about 72 hours straight and have seen a few of you on. so i am extending the contest due to a few reasons:

1. Matchmaking is messing up. after talking with developers they are working on a fix. it is mostly due to an overload of people online.
2. Most retailers that took preorders for the Limited Edition only got a few of their preorders in. so some of you have been left out to dry. i fell bad about it because it almost happed to me.

so for these reason the contest is extended to friday, november 14th at 11:59pm

Hey guys as you know, one of the biggest games of the year is coming out on friday. That game would be Gears of War 2. Hopefully by now all coaches have received emails stating that I will be online all weekend. so I am having a contest. The prize…your very own COG tags. amount of cog tags are unknown at this time.
